Imagine you’re about five or six years old. You’ve got no problem going about the day just enjoying (of course there are tragic exceptions) God and his creation, most of all rejoicing in the “you” that he created you to be. You’ve been naughty but hey you know God won’t hold it against you, you have more sense. Then you grow up and get some sort of education and start to think you know a few things, perhaps even thinking you don’t need God, you’ve worked it out that it would be old fashioned to think that way. Even if you think about God it’s in terms of religion, so, you might weigh up the pros and cons. Then as you grow into a young man or woman and you realise you’ve been CONNED by the World and reap some of the fruit of doing some extremely stupid stuff, you have no power to overcome your situation. Then one day you might even have an epiphany or hear God calling you or you go to a Evangelistic crusade and step forward. You make a pact Jesus=good/Devil=bad or Religion=good/lousy behaviour (or sin)=bad. Then 40 years or so later, after faithfully attempting to please the God you believe has saved you, you realise you still sin and are worse off than when you didn’t call yourself a Christian even though you still believe you’ll make it to heaven, even if it means just scraping in!
Then some weird stuff happens, supernatural stuff, and you realise again that God is on your case. Following this new instinct by a revitalised faith in Jesus, you come to know there’s no duality, (there being no greater, God swore by himself that Abraham would be the father of many nations. God is ONE and you have never been separated from him), in fact you might come to the conclusion… MY Father. Maybe you might like to take another look at what Jesus said, this time more openly.
